What the scheme gives you

Make the work you put in visible.

A public listing

A listing that a client can search and cite, with a scheme number that ties your claim to assessed evidence.

Recognisable performance marks

Star marks that clearly identify verified performance and help customers understand what has been assessed.

A level playing field

Everyone is measured the same way, so a better product can be seen to be better.

Good products deserve
a fair comparison.

If you invest in a better thermal break, a properly drained perimeter or a glass specification that controls solar gain without killing daylight, you need a straightforward way to show it.

Your figures may sit in a test report next to a competitor’s figures that were calculated on a different basis — or not calculated at all. The market cannot easily tell the difference. That is the problem this scheme is meant to fix.

What you get out of it

  • A defensible position. When a specifier or building control officer asks how you arrived at a figure, you have an independent answer rather than a marketing sheet.
  • Coverage of the awkward bits. Condensation, weather performance at the intended orientation and roof-appropriate security are assessed here.
  • Clearer expectations. A record of assessed performance helps reduce misunderstandings after handover.

Annual audit & ongoing evidence

Verification is a commitment,
not a purchase.

There will be an annual audit, and performance evidence will be required for each star held. A certificate is a statement about a product as it is made today, so it has to be reviewed as the product, the supply chain and the requirements move.

Tell us when your product changes.

If you change a glass specification, a gasket, a thermal break or a supplier, tell us. It may make no difference to verification, in which case the record is updated. If it does make a difference, it is better to identify it before a customer does.

Verification and listings can be withdrawn.

If evidence is not new evidence is not provided, a product no longer meets a threshold, or marks are used on products they were not awarded to, the listing can be removed. The directory depends on the accuracy of its records.
